Born in 1946 in Prague, graduate of the Business Academy and Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague. He has worked in foreign trade his entire professional life, having held practically all positions in the trade department, from foreign language correspondent to the position of general director and chairman of the board of directors at Kovo (he held this position in the years 1989 – 2011). He served on the supervisory boards of ČSOB as, Čechofracht as and the boards of directors of Smrečina Pukanec (SR), Ankovo Warszawa (Poland) and Impre (Venezuela). In the years 1987 – 1989, he founded and headed the foreign trade department of the Tesla concern – Electronic components. He worked abroad for a long time, his business and personal contacts are active in a number of countries. He speaks English, German, Russian and Polish. For a number of years, he has been working as an external lecturer at the Department of Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Management of the University of Economics and an occasional lecturer at some universities and industrial and cooperative unions. He is married, has 2 daughters and 3 granddaughters.
